Spider Web Project – October 5

During the month of October, we will be studying spider and how they make webs. Here is a great project to do at home:

  1. Cut out the center of a large lid so only the ring remains.
  2. Tie one end of the yarn to the ring. Tape or glue the yarn to the edge of the lid.
  3. Loop the yarn tightly and evenly around the ring, until you return to the first loop.
  4. Loop the yarn strand under and through the first set of loops to create a second row.
  5. Continue adding rows of loops moving towards the center of the ring.
  6. When you reach the center of the web, knot the yarn, cut it off and glue or tape it in place.
  7. Glue a plastic spider to the center know if you wish and bring to school to share.
